“The Belt and Road” Outbound Investment Legal Affair Seminar Co-organized by Senior and Meritas represented by HHP successfully held in Hangzhou
In June 30th 2017, “The Belt and Road” Outbound Investment Legal Affair Seminar came to an end in Zhejiang Hangzhou. This seminar was supported by China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Zhejiang Provincial Committee, HHP Attorneys-At-Law as the Chinese member firm of Meritas Law Firms Worldwide, and Senior Legal Affair Management.
Mr. Xiaohang HUANG, Counsellor and Vice President of CCPIT Zhejiang Provincial Committee, Mr. Hiromasa OGAWA from Meritas Law Firm Worldwide and Mr. Xiaozhong YE, President of Senior Legal Affair Management attended this seminar. The seminar invited senior experts from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of P.R.China, well-known central enterprises and large financial institutions to share the legal affairs of outbound investment in all angles. HHP Attorneys-At-Law, as the Chinese member firm of Meritas also invited partner lawyers of Meritas member firms from Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, Japan, Korea and Hong Kong to present professional speeches in this seminar.
More than 160 representatives of numerous Chinese leading companies gathered together, including Zhejiang Communication Investment Group, Zhejiang Energy Group, Zhejiang Tourism Group, Zhejiang Construction Investment Group, Zhejiang Tea Group, Zhejiang International Business Group, Dahua Technology, Zotye Automobile, Daoming Optics, Hongying Group, Zhejiang Expressway, Baoaijie Automobile, TongTianXing Group, The Export-Import Bank of China and etc.
The seminar began in the speeches of Mr. Xiaohang HUANG, Mr. Hiromasa OGAWA, and Mr. Xiaozhong YE. Mr. OGAWA introduced the unique quality control system of Meritas and the advantages of Meritas model of outbound investment service, compared to the traditional model.
Then, Mr. Jingge XIA, Counselor of International Economy Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs made an instruction and analysis of the international background and hotspots under the “The Belt and Road” strategy. Mr. Chunge WANG, General Counsel of China Merchants Group Co. Ltd. introduced the actual experience in Belarus by China Merchants Group Co. Ltd. and characteristics of investment & risk prevention regarding investment in Central and Eastern Europe. Mr. Xiangnan ZHANG, Deputy General Counsel of China Nonferrous Metals Mining (Group) Co., Ltd. introduced a systematic in-depth analysis of how to control the legal risk of outbound investment and legal operation from four aspects of strategic decision, due diligence, project transaction and project operation, also combined with the outbound investment cases.

Partner Lawyer Mr. Yao RAO, analyzed the latest changes on supervision and market confronted with Chinese enterprises in outbound investment and M&A at the moment, discussed how to layout overseas investment under the new policies of “The Belt and Road”, and introduced the common problems and solutions of various investment and M&A projects according to actual cases.
In the afternoon session, Meritas member firms began the speech of introducing mergers and investments in East Asia. Mr. Hiromasa OGAWA from Kojima Law Offices, Mr. Shanyun CUI and Mr. Sedong MIN from Lee & Ko, and Mr. Wilfred TSUI from Gallant, introduced the investment and merge operation background in East Asia, and conducted in-depth discussions on investment, merger opportunities and legal risk analysis of Japan, Korea and Hong Kong respectively.
Mr. Zhibo LI, Managing Director of Oversea Investment Business Division, Ping’An Trust, had an incredible speech about how to develop a new method of providing outbound funding solution for Chinese enterprises to "go out" in the current regulatory environment.
At last, speakers of Meritas Southeast Asian member firms, Mr. Nguyen Huu HOAI from Russin & Vecchi, Mr. Hendra ONG from HPRP Lawyers, and Mr. Aison Benedict C. VELASCO from ACCRALAW, made detailed instructions about how to find opportunities of mergers and investments and how to effectively manage investment projects and analyze the main legal risks in Vietnam, Indonesia and Philippines.
The seminar was successfully concluded in a positive interaction between participants and speakers. The massive materials and typical cases shared by speakers had won great acclaims.
